About

Infinite Injury is my iconoclastic take on current events, law, analytic philosophy, programming and whatever else happens to interest me. What distinguishes this blog from others with similar aims is the lack of any conventional ideological dogma and a willingness to follow out the implications of an argument even when they lead to unpopular views (a moral responsibility to abort disabled babies) or flout conventional wisdom (the CTBT increases the risk of nuclear war). Hopefully the readers will be able to put up with my imperfect grammar/spelling and join in for some interesting discussions. In case your curious about me (TruePath), the haphazard blogger responsible for this site, you’ll soon be able to browse my professional website but for now a couple tidbits. My real name is Peter Gerdes and I’m a graduate student in the logic group at the University of California at Berkeley. I’m studying recursion theory (also known as computability theory) with Leo Harrington but occasionally dabble in analytic philosophy as well. If you want to know more about me you’ll have to wait for my professional page. This blog is running wordpress 2.2.1 on a custom compiled php on dreamhost[^reward]. For more technical details about this blog and (eventually) to see some of the code I used to glue things together watch my wordpress page for more details. [^reward]: Full disclosure: I strongly recommend dreamhost for anyone who is technically savy and likes to configure their own settings but likes having detailed instructions from those who have gone before. However, it is only fair to let you know that I’m compensated if you sign up based on my referal. You can get a discount by using my promo code TRUEPATH when you sign up but diligent web searches will likely turn up bigger discounts (though using someone else’s code means you won’t benefit me).
